Khaled Hosseini
was born in Afghanistan and while a teenager, his family was
granted political asylum in the United States. He earned his
Medical Degree in 1993. While practicing as an internist at
Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, Hosseini began writing
his first novel. The Kite Runner, which stayed on the
international bestseller list for three years, sold over 4
million copies in 48 countries. His next effort was a
beautiful, riveting and haunting novel of enormous
contemporary relevance. A Thousand Splendid Suns is a
breathtaking story set against the volatile events of
Afghanistan’s last thirty years. It is a stunning
accomplishment.
